Exosomes are lipid nanoparticles that get secreted by cells. The cells in your body naturally create exosomes as a way to communicate with one another and to help regulate biological processes.
In addition to the exosomes your body creates naturally, exosomes can also be applied topically in order to dramatically enhance the results of clinical anti-aging treatments. These topically applied exosomes communicate with the cells in your body by producing biosignals.
Lyophilization, or freeze-drying, removes water from a frozen sample under vacuum, creating a stable, dry product for long-term storage. However, this process can damage proteins and exosomes, causing them to lose structure and function. Using cryoprotectants like trehalose preserves exosome integrity during lyophilization. Trehalose stabilizes exosomes by maintaining their 3D structure as water is removed. Research shows that lyophilizing exosomes with trehalose effectively preserves their structure and function over extended storage periods.
Removing water from exosome solutions significantly enhances their shelf life and stability. While freezing at -80°C is effective, it requires specialized equipment and dry ice shipping, making it impractical for cosmetics. Freezing at -20°C is easier but results in low exosome recovery. Refrigeration at 4°C is practical but leads to rapid loss of intact vesicles.
Lyophilization addresses these issues, allowing for long-term storage (12 months) with minimal exosome reduction. Storing lyophilized exosomes at 4°C further minimizes degradation.
Exosomes are isolated from different types of stem cells in a class 3 ISO certified clean room. Cells are cultured in xeno-free medium, expanded in bioreactors, and transferred to low-particle media to produce exosome-rich conditioned media. This media is concentrated 100x using tangential flow filtration, which retains exosomes while removing smaller proteins and water.
The concentrated media is further purified using tangential flow filtration (TFF), separating exosomes from other soluble proteins. Exosomes are suspended in a salt buffer with trehalose, which preserves their structure during lyophilization.
Exosomes are characterized following ISEV guidelines, with particle concentration determined by nanoparticle tracking analysis. Vials are filled with 10 billion exosomes, rapidly frozen, and lyophilized over 24 hours. At least 90% of exosomes remain stable, ensuring a minimum of 5 billion viable exosomes per vial throughout the product's shelf life.
Recent research has demonstrated that targeted biosignals play a crucial role in tissue repair, particularly in the skin. Change Age Zero® has pioneered the application of this science by reactivating the skin's inherent regenerative properties through the utilization of Cytosignals. These Cytosignals mimic endogenous growth factors, effectively restoring youthful skin. The team of scientists at Change Age Zero® has harnessed these growth factors to stimulate the skin's natural healing processes, promoting youthful behavior and optimal recovery.
The skin functions as a protective barrier, working tirelessly to shield the body. Within the skin, stem cells secrete a variety of growth factors and cytokines that regulate the healing and regeneration processes. These bioactive agents are essential for directing tissue repair and regeneration.
In youthful skin, endogenous stem cells are abundant and highly active, ensuring skin remains smooth, elastic, and radiant. However, as the body ages, the number of available stem cells diminishes, leading to decreased regenerative capacity. Accumulated damage over time contributes to the deterioration of skin health.
Change Age Zero® scientists have developed recombinant growth factors that emulate the body's natural regenerative signals, thereby restoring the skin's youthful regenerative abilities.
Change Age Zero® employs advanced techniques to culture recombinant Cytosignals in a controlled laboratory environment. This process ensures the production of bioactive signals that can effectively command skin repair and rejuvenation.
In addition to these groundbreaking products, Change Age Zero® provides adjunctive solutions for in-office dermatological procedures such as microneedling, radiofrequency, and laser resurfacing. Post-procedure, the use of Change Age Zero® products can significantly reduce healing times and enhance the overall rejuvenating effects. The Change Age Zero® home skincare system further supports continued skin regeneration and maintenance, maximizing long-term benefits.
